Yamaha's custom mouthpieces for saxophones and clarinets are made from selected ebonite. This high-quality hard rubber has a deep resonance and sound qualities similar to those of natural wood. To ensure consistent, high quality, every step of the manufacturing process, from the shaping of the mouthpiece "blank" to the final hand finishing of the slide, is carried out by experienced Yamaha instrument makers. Over many years, Yamaha has worked with the world's finest musicians to study their mouthpieces and find ways to improve them. The Custom series embodies this experience in the design and manufacture of each individual mouthpiece. The Custom mouthpieces are characterized by a warm, full sound with exceptional clarity. Thanks to their precise intonation and pleasant playability, they are very popular with leading artists.
