Intermediate Jazz Conception for Tenor Saxophone, Includes CD
Composer/Performer: Jim Snidero
Publisher
Advance Music
“Intermediate Jazz Conception” is another volume in Jim Snidero’s popular series of etude books featuring some of the world’s finest jazz musicians. This book/audio set contains 15 solo etudes on standards, modal melodies, and blues, demonstrated by Jim Snidero on alto saxophone alongside the incredibly swinging rhythm section consisting of Dave Hazeltine on piano, Peter Washington on bass, and Kenny Washington on drums. New to “Intermediate Jazz Conception” is an appendix with information on style and improvisation, including a scale chart, terminology, and over 95 selected melody lines and ideas for learning improvisation.
The recording includes two different versions of each etude: one with the soloist and the rhythm section, and one with just the rhythm section. Listen to how the soloist plays the etudes, play along with or without the soloist, and learn jazz style and improvisation from some of the best musicians. Other series by Jim Snidero: “Easy Jazz Conception” and “Jazz Conception.”
