The barrel is - right after the mouthpiece - one of the most decisive components of a clarinet when it comes to sound shaping, response and intonation. That is why the Gleichweit Ebonite barrel was developed with the utmost care by two professional clarinettists: Johannes Gleichweit (Viennese clarinet) and Emir Radisevic (Boehm clarinet). The aim was to create a barrel that meets the highest demands in terms of both sound and playing technique.
The barrels are specially designed for clarinets of the Viennese system - in particular for instruments of the F. Hammerschmidt and Otmar Hammerschmidt brands. They are characterized by a warm, centered sound, easy response and excellent projection. The deliberate omission of metal rings promotes natural resonance and ensures an open, organic sound.
