The Hammerschmidt company was founded in 1873 by Martin Hammerschmidt in Watzkenreuth in the Egerland. After being expelled from their Sudeten German homeland in 1945, the Hammerschmidt family came to Burgau and in 1952 Otmar Hammerschmidt and his son Willi moved to Wattens, the company's current location, and they developed the first Viennese prototypes especially for the Austrian market Clarinets. The unmistakable tone of the Otmar Hammerschmidt clarinets became world-famous and a benchmark in the clarinet world. This year we are celebrating the 135 year company anniversary and present our anniversary model SOLIST OH 200, which is engraved with the initials of our grandfather.

Orchestra and soloists clarinets are the result of decades of research and tests with well-known clarinetists. The unmistakable, dynamic, dark, soft Viennese clarinet sound is world-famous and has made these instruments a quality concept in the international music world.
The handcrafted flap mechanism, which has been further developed over decades, is upgraded by a newly developed ball mechanism in the pillars, which guarantees maximum stability and a light, noiseless flap mechanism. An inserted bearing axis enables longitudinal compensation in the event of thermal expansion or warpage. This prevents the mechanics from rattling or jamming.
